What are parents saying about bklyn speech?
“Finding Rebecca McDaniels and bklyn speech was the turning point in our son's medical/developmental journey. By the time he was three and barely verbal, we had had multiple false starts with speech-language pathologists, who all struggled to diagnose and treat our son's speech, as well as to understand him in a larger sense.
From the instant we (and he) met Rebecca, we knew we could relax. She is the rarest of rare gems: a sought-after clinician and academic with true expertise and insight into motor-speech disorders, as well as a light-up-the-room therapist with a true gift for connecting to children.
Over the years, she's taken our son from a hesitant three-year-old who struggled to produce single syllables to a confident six-year-old who sings songs and expresses himself in full sentences. He is incredibly bonded to her, and it's because of this bond, and the joy she brings to each session, that she's been able to get him to push himself to meet each new challenge. Along the way, she's been a close confidante and supporter of our family, going above and beyond to help us on this complex and challenging journey.
Finding Rebecca and bklyn speech was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We'll be grateful all our lives. “

“I went through 3 speech therapists and I found it was extremely difficult to find a speech/feeding Therapist with the skill, knowledge, passion and patience until I met Lauren Alpert. My son went from a diet of mostly pasta and Cheerios due to his sensory to exploring new foods and having learning the skills to work through his sensory discomfort. I have Lauren to thank for that. When my daughter started solids I had the experience and knowledge taught by Lauren to detect her feeding sensory early on, I automatically picked up the phone to see if Lauren had any availability. Over the years Lauren became a good friend , like family. We recommended her to all family and friends that were seeking speech/ feeding therapy. Everyone absolutely loved working with her.”

“Rebecca McDaniels is not only a clinically discerning speech therapist, she is a wonderfully loving and kind human being. She has been treating my son with cerebral palsy since he is 4 months old, thoughtfully treating his speech and language impairments as they have developed over time. She also treats my daughter with mild speech and language delays. She is incredibly honest and a strong advocate to children and parents, alike. Rebecca has shaped my son's speech with a combination of deeply rooted clinical intuition and evidence based strategies, and he continues to surprise us in the most beautiful ways. For this, I am forever in her debt. She is one of the most memorable women in my own, and my children's lives. I highly recommend Rebecca, a leader and innovator in her field, a once in a lifetime SLP. She's, bar none, the absolute best there is!”

“My youngest son was diagnosed with apraxia at 2 years old. He began speech therapy with Rebecca. I was nervous but Rebecca was so comforting and helpful making sure I was involved with the whole process. She is one of the sweetest most caring people I have ever met and my son absolutely adored her. I was amazed with the progress my son made in such a short time. He looked forward to each speech session because she made it such a fun experience. I will always be grateful to Rebecca for the amazing job she did helping my little boy talk and express himself. He's now going into 1st grade and talks all day long!! I wish I could give her more than 5 stars!!”

“Our son has SPD and low muscle tone. He didn’t start eating food till he was about 16 months old. Lauren has not only been an incredible feeding therapist but has become so invested in our son that she feels like family. She understands that every path is different and is always creative in finding new ways to open closed doors. Our family is grateful to have her a part of our team.”

“I can honestly say Rebecca saved my world. When she diagnosed my daughter with CAS (Childhood Apraxia of Speech) .. I was scared...devastated. And the fear I felt for my little nugget was overwhelming. Not only did she work with my daughter and provide her with a level of patience and care I’ve never witnessed before. .. she gave her words and the ability to communicate.
Rebecca also made me feel secure and confident with the situation handed to me. She explained what was happening and taught me how to help and be involved so my daughter could accomplish each step forward on the best footing possible.
I cannot say enough amazing things about her.. My little girl has spent 2 1/2 years going from one sound to full conversations .. and my mind has been blown at the work that was put in and the outcome that was achieved.
I owe her for the gift of words she has given my child and for the peace of mind she has given me.”

“I cannot stress enough how amazing this place is. Rebecca is such a natural and thoughtful teacher, as well as a truly kind and compassionate person. Dealing with a speech delay is a very difficult thing for a parent to deal with… but Rebecca made everything so manageable and easy. Her approach is also extremely effective. The improvement I saw with my son was so amazing. I highly recommend to anyone who’s little one is struggling with communication.”

“Lauren Alpert is a highly skilled, knowledgeable, and extremely passionate SLP who has been treating my two year old son with suspected apraxia for over a year now. She uses a specifically tailored treatment approach that involves oral motor principles and the PROMPT therapy technique. I especially appreciate her utilization of alternate forms of communication such as sign language and an AAC device to help ease my son's frustration cause by his difficulty to express himself verbally. Her suggestion to use an iPad with the Coughdrop app has been an absolute game changer! She has such a warm, patient, and caring personality and quickly developed a positive rapport with my son. He looks forward to their sessions and works really hard for her. Her ability to motivate him to turn on his voice is truly an art! I am so grateful for all her hard work and dedication and can't recommend her enough!”
